Hello and welcome.

This campaign has been created to support my beloved friend in Gaza, the beekeeper Rewaa, and her beautiful family of five. My name is Rebecca Mary, and I have been in daily contact with Rewaa for over a year now. I have watched my dear sister suffer unimaginable hardships whilst striving to mother, protect, nourish and raise her precious children.

They have lived in tents in sandy barren locations, deprived of the basic necessities of life, endured freezing winter nights unable to sleep with the sound of bombings surrounding them and drones incessantly flying overhead, and boiling summers under the heat of the sun. They have been evacuated from location to location, and finally returned to their destroyed home in North Gaza, which they have cleaned of the rubble, and moved back into, with determination to reclaim what was lost.

Despite this, nothing remains as it was before the genocide began. The entirety of Gaza is facing famine and starvation, and I have witnessed the worsening conditions from afar. A bag of flour to feed a family can cost up to $500, and fresh produce, meat and food of sustenance is unavailable due to Israel’s continuing blockade. Children have died of starvation in recent weeks in Gaza. They are fighting for life in apocalyptic conditions.

Rewaa adores cooking for her family, but there is nothing to cook. The family rely on donations to purchase flour, beans and spices when they are available. They need our contributions to afford even the most basic necessities for survival. We would like to raise a significant amount of money to not only keep this family fed, but also to provide the hope of evacuating when possible.

Throughout all of her hardships, Rewaa has retained her fierce motherly love, her warmth and kindness, and even her humour. She is truly a beautiful soul, and her children are delightful and filled with the exuberance of life despite everything. Please help us to keep this family fed, and give them hope for a peaceful and fulfilling future.

Your donation will be received by me (Rebecca) into my Australian bank account, and transferred directly to Rewaa via international bank transfer. I will be posting updates on the family’s wellbeing, and what they were able to purchase with your donations.

In Rewaa’s words:

Hello everyone, I am Rewaa. I have three children: Ali, 6 years old, Tia, 5 years old, and Maria, 2 years old. My husband, Mohammed, is a medical doctor. Because of the cursed war, my baby was deprived of her most basic right: milk. Finding sustenance for my daughter and food for my family has been extremely challenging. Because of the cursed war, everything is destroyed: homes, shelters, businesses, even dreams. Everything has turned to ashes.

I am an agricultural engineer specialising in food processing. Before our displacement, I worked in a dairy factory. The factory was destroyed and I lost my job. I gave birth to my youngest daughter Maria, only one week before the bombings began. We have since been displaced multiple times, facing many hardships. Maria’s entire life, two years, has been lived amidst displacement.

I also had my own apiary where I raised bees and produced pure, natural honey. Though due to the war, it was destroyed, along with the bees and my source of livelihood. I dreamed of creating my own bee kingdom. Even those dreams were shattered. Now, what else do we have left but destruction, famine, and killing? Help me and my children secure the most basic rights and escape this harsh reality. My dreams are to live in peace with my family.
